Center for Politics Hosts Vietnam’s Ambassador at Public Event

(CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA) – On Tuesday, April 11, the Center for Politics at UVA’s Global Perspectives on Democracy program and UVA Professor P.Q. Hung will host an Ambassador Series event with His Excellency Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Ambassador of Vietnam to the United States.

Ambassador Dzung will speak on the relationship between Vietnam and the U.S. and the latest issues impacting the country and region. Following the Ambassador’s speech, he will participate in a Q&A moderated by UVA University Professor Emeritus Harry Harding. Center for Politics Director of Global Initiatives Daman Irby will introduce the Ambassador.

This event will be held in-person from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 in Minor Hall Room 125. Those who would like to attend may register via Eventbrite. Members of the media are welcome. This event may also be viewed via livestream at https://livestream.com/tavco/ambassadorofvietnam.

His Excellency Nguyen Quoc Dzung was sworn in as Ambassador to the U.S. in February 2022 and previously served as Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador to Hungary and accredited to additional countries in southeastern Europe, and served in other roles going back to 1990.

This Ambassador Series event is coordinated by the Center for Politics’ Global Perspectives on Democracy (GPD) program, which fosters dialogue between the United States and other countries through public events and international exchanges. Dzung is the 35th ambassador to participate in this series.
